Somebody from spectrum B said to me (on 31st july 07) that, yo party ko bare ma usko
perspective bata lekhnu paryo re. Pukar, Pasang, Gautam, Bishal lai bolako
thiyena yo bela, we never do, timi haru ko afnai sansar cha party ko kura
garda, esto jhar pat party ma kina authiyau ra timi haru, hami lai pani ta timi
haru bolaudainau ni.. aba lekhyo bhane etro lamo huncha yo kura, 8:30 bhai
sakyo, ahile net disconnect huncha, so i'll post whatever till now.

Life moves on...

We're in the middle of this semester and no excitation yet (at least from my side), I don't intend to do minor project, kei pani audaina java sava, balai bhayena ni arko sem tira diula... mero co-group members haru le garyo bhane kei hola, ma ta kei gardina.. waste of time, baru kei inventive kura garna man lageko cha, dami ko video banaunu paryo euta, camcorder le... Electronics haru ko ta I don't know anything, I don't even know if they have to do any project or not... dui ota photo post garna lako chu.. euta chai pasang ko, marnai ati sakyo, din ko 125 choti sodhcha, "Suraj ji, photo post gardeu?" bhanera... lala mula, aja gardeko chu, hera hai... ani arko chai keta haru ko photo, the one i chose from Spectrum Tour pics folder.. hope you guys like it.

Minor Project - Sixth Semester

Subash sir lai project bujhaunu parne (friday), aja saturday, aba hijo sir sanga bhet nai bhayena, sir college nai aunu bhayena kyare hehee guff deko, ma college nai gako thina, don't worry subash sir, aja saturday din bhari net chalcha, dami ko project khojchu ani bholi proposal dinchu. aru ta sab thik cha, hijo kk bhayo kunni, tha pani chaina. keta haru le good friday manayo hola...

IF that post did any harm to shukla sir, i'm sorry, he's THE most active teacher of apex college (sir yo marks ko lagi bhaneko haina, ani tyo comment haru pani sir le marks dinu hunna bhanera hatako haina). sir le request garnu bhako bhayera matra, natra i don't think tyaha hataunu parne kei kura cha... anyways.. thuprai kaam cha mero, i'm outta here.

Engineering in nepal, looking back

नेपालमा ईन्जिनियरिङ, फर्केर हेर्दा
पाँचवटा semester बिती सक्यो, sixth running...
Satisfaction = 0
मलाई अझै याद छ, १२ सकेपछी ईन्जिनियरिङ पढ्ने decision लेको थिएँ which i thought was wise, अझ त्यहाँ माथि computer engineer.. हुन त अहिले पनि hope उस्तै छ, nothing has changed but the thing to realize is, nothing has improved either, no considerable gain. First semester मा थुप्रै जोश थियो, computer engineer भनेपछी i thought it must be related to computer or stuffs around पछी chemistry, physics, electrical bla bla bla पढ्न थाले पछी, mood नै change भयो. Still, i thought "यो jpt subject हरु त पढि हालिन्छ नि"। Programming मा interest थियो, अझै छ, Apex College मा आउँदा programming मा ZERO... अब base त बनाउनु पर्‍यो, teacher थियो "लक्ष्मी राज जोशी", a funny character whose programming was limited from "Hello World!!" to fibonacii series. Base त बस्यो, i don't complain but i'm sure it'd have been better if there was a good programmer as our guide. Sorry to say sir but if you're reading this, i thought you were just a rookie in programming all the time you guided us and yeah, BAD ENGLISH too heheehe... त्यही पनि programming सिकियो, second semester मा project पनि बनाएँ, हाम्रो group मा अमित(सापकोटा+श्रेष्ठ), सरद र म थिएँ, project म एक्लैले गरेको थिएँ, केटा हरु रिसाउनेहोला अब, रिसए रिसाइराख, i don't give a fuck, i'm pretty sure that त्यो sem मा गरेको project हरु मध्ये, सुरु देखि end सम्म सबै आफैँले गरेको project मेरो मात्र थियो, अरु सबै को project senior हरु को replica थियो, replica पनि हैन, coding नै same थियो, hehee.. you can download my project here. दिनहरु बित्दै गए, semester by semester, we learned more, but needless to say, nothing was worth it. अहिले आएर i can conclude, Barun sir र Amit sir जस्तो teacher हरु हामीले अरु subject मा पएनौँ . "Engineering study भनेको practical हुनु पर्छ।" यो हाम्रै एउटा sir को dialog हो, practicality को कुरा गर्दा, once i asked our math teacher about the practical application of Laplace Transform and he completely ignored my question (his name is Nanda Ram Aryal), i asked twice, yet nothing... As time went on, i started to stop asking questions which i now think is what i did 'wrong'.

Teaching methods को कुरा गर्नुपर्दा, Apex College मा यस्ता teacher हरु थिए र छन् जो एउटा note लाई class मा ल्याएर, तेसैलाई english मा पढेर, अनि नेपाली मा translate गर्छन्। One of them was Mr. Nawaraj xxx sir, खै surname थाहा छैन, अहिले US तिर हुनुहुन्छ क्यारे। अझ funny कुरा त के भने, once he said something like this "तिमीहरु लाई के लाग्छ होला भने, यो sir लाई केइ आउँदैन त्यही भएर note मा हेरेर पढाउँछ, तर मलाई आउँछ।" कस्तो teacher होला, आफुलाई आउँछ भनेर भन्नुपर्ने hehehee. By the way his subject was Network Theory. यस्ता teacher हरु फेरी पनि नआएका होइनन् , थुप्रै आए, थुप्रै गए, ठोकुवा गरेर भन्न सक्छु "syllabus ra notes दिने हो भने, म जुन subject नि पढाईदिन्छु (if teacher त्यस्तो हुनु पर्ने हो भने)". Thermal Science पढाउने Mahesh Luitel sir दुब्लो भए पनि राम्रो पढाउनु हुन्थियो। All the students felt that he was a good teacher, and he was. Physics sir ले हसाउनुहुन्थ्यो, he used to say "पढाई भनेको त्यस्तै हो, पढेर कोही ठुलो भाको हैन, मान्छे practical हुनुपर्छ", पढाउने भन्दा बढी गफ हान्ने, एक दिन त, महाभारत र रामायण देखि लिएर हिन्दी फिल्म सम्मको गफ दिनुभाको, पुरा world tour गराएर last मा sri lanka मा आएर गफ सक्केको... phew.. (to be continued... निद्रा लाग्यो :D)

Back to blog, where was i? जहाँ भए पनि, i'll start from the things that my dear teachers used to say, when i complained about the applications of the things we were studying. Barun sir ले एक दिन मलाई, बोलएर कुरा गर्नु भयो। He tried to tell me the applications of stuffs we were going through. As an example he told me about physics. He said, "physics मा तिमीहरुले पढेको कुरा हरु, पछी कुनै related program बनाउँदा काम लाग्छ, जस्तै temperature related कुनै program. मैले sir को कुरा बुझेको थिएँ but mero perspective मा म अझै satisfied थिइनँ। अब पछी apply हुन्छ भन्दैमा second semester मा पढेको कुरा याद हुन्छ त, 3rd semester को first class मा बिर्सिहाल्छ नि। Some teachers who mite be reading this ma may say, "तिमीले पो बिर्सिन्छौ, अरुले त बिर्सिन्न नि" but मेरो general knowledge ले भन्ने हो भने, सबैले बिर्सिसक्यो. If we'll need it later, we'll study later. जब program को requirement ले माग्छ, अनि त study गरीहालिन्छ नि। एउटा project start गर्दा, सबै कुराको study गरिन्छ, त्यो बेला गरेको study को motive नै अर्कै हुन्छ, जाँगर पनि चल्छ।

अब कसले बुझिदियोस्, बालै भएन नि, मलाई मात्र के को टाउको दुखाइ। I'm writing this thing to let others know how it's like to study engg. in a college in Nepal. Teachers हरुले हामीलाई भन्ने अर्को कुरा के भने "तिमीहरु ले बिस्तारै पढ्दै जान्छौ, पछी 6th 7th semester तिर serious कुराहरु पढ्छौ, कस्तो होला, अनी 5 वटा semester चाँही "खोया" पढेको?? यो "खोया" भन्ने word चाँही काले (बिक्रान्त बिक्रम राणा) को देन हो, hehehee. college छाडी सक्यो काले ले, यसरी college छाड्नेहारु कति छन् कति, डल्ले ले छाड्यो, aerina, prabha, sulabh, rajesh etc... कसलाई hope थियो र?? engineering पढेर, नेपालमा केही गर्न सक्छु भन्ने (engineering को हालत देखे पछी)। (college जाने time भयो, will be writin later..)

Ok!! fresh day, remember? अहिले sixth semester हो। First semester मा Basic Electrical मा F आयो, त्यो भने भनेको fail हो, लाईफ मा first time fail भाको, Apex मै आएर, but, Apex College लाई दोश देको हैन, नपढेर Fail भाको, पढ्यो भने कुनै पनि subject मा फैल हुनु पर्दैन रेछ। पछी back दियेँ अर्को sem मा अनि B- आयो क्यारे, who gives a damn!! मलाई grades को मत्लब नै छैन, i know that's not good but i'm not into this thing. मलाई mechanical workshop पढेको पनि याद छ, prakash timilsina sir ले पढाउनु भाको। त्यो फलाम लाई काटेर bottle opener बनाको थियौँ हाम्ले। I guess, this subject mite come in handy, robot sobot banauda, but again, जब चाहिन्छ तब पढेको पो मज्जा आउँछ अहिले केही त याद छैन, त्यो workshop मा गरेको। Electrical Engineering Materials मा चाँही i felt it was unfair to me. मैले भन्दा कम perform गरेको student हरुको मेरो भन्दा बढी internal marks आको थियो मलाई 25 देको त्यो sir ले, his name is purushottam sigdel, Apex मा power भाको मान्छे हो रे, हल्ला सुनेको मैले hahaha. The marking was due to personal thing. एक चोटि class मा सबै जना हल्ला गरी राको थियो, त्यो sir ले कहिले पनि class लाई control गर्न सक्दैन थियो अनि सबै class को रिस् म माथि पोख्यो त्यो दिन। मलाई आएर सोध्यो
"Fermi Level भनेको के हो ?"
I said "थाहा छैन"
Then he said "class बाट बाहिर जाउ!!!"
I said "अरु कसै लाई उभ्याएर सोध्नुस्, एक जना ले भन्यो भने म बहिर जान्छु"
but त्यो sir को तेत्रो हिम्मत थिएन, अब कसैलाई आउँदैन, अनि सबै लाई class बाट निकल्न मिल्दैन ।
so he said "खुरुक्क बहिर जाउ न मैले भने पछी"।
यो सब कुरा भै रहँदा म ज्ञानी भएर बसेको थिए, म जहिले पनि ज्ञानी हुन्छु btw. अनि म केही नभनि बाहिर गएँ, हुन नहुने कुरा के भयो भने, rajesh ra amit (dalle) मेरो पछी पछी आएछन म निस्किए पछी तिनिहरु पनि निस्किए, "साथी को साथ देको रे"। डल्ले ले यस्तो भनेको थिओ, "ओइ झ्यापे, देखिस् हामीले तेरो साथ दियौँ " heheeehe मुजी डल्ले... कस्तो हसाँउछ, अहिले पनि सम्झियो कि लास्टै हाँस् उठ्छ.. I know they did it for me, thanks mates, luv u both, but त्यो sir को दिमाग मा के परेछ भने, मैले politics गरेको etc.. hehee बिचरा म, दाँया बाँया केही नजान्ने केटा लाई त्यस्तो आरोप लगको त्यो sir ले। त्यती भयो भन्दैमा मलाई 25 देको। एस्तो जाबो subject. 0 (ZERO) level देखि सुरु गरेको final exam अगाडि, मेरो C+ आयो final ma grades, if the internal marks was somewhere around 35, i'd have scored at least B. त्यही पनि, As I already said, "I have no hunger for good grades" I still don't give a damn!! (भरे घर आए पछी लेखौँला अरु...)

Sushma ma'am को खुब complain गरियो, पढाएको चित्तै नबुझ्ने, अहिले I confess she was a better teacher than a lot of them @ Apex College. I admit ma'am लाई बाहिर को extra कुरा अलि आउँदैन थियो, but she covered her course very well. First sem मा Basic Electrical Engineering अनि Fourth Sem मा Instrumentation थियो ma'am को subject. हाम्रो अर्को ma'am - our dear Kavita Ma'am Third sem मा Electroni Device(मेरो F आको) अनि Fourth Sem मा Electronic Circuits (म pass भाको) she was an okay teacher, यो मेरो judgement हैन, मैले त कहिलै class मा पढेको भए पो थाहा हुन्थियो कस्तो teacher भनेर। According to rest of the Spectrum, Kavita ma'am ले राम्रो पढाउनु हुँदैन थियो रे "आबो यु च्यङ्बाले ma'am लाई E. Device मा A ल्याँउछा भानेर F ल्याइदियो, कास्तो ट्यान्सन भाकु थियो"। पछी Device को back दिएर pass गरेँ। आनन्दै भयो E. Circuit मा पनि pass भए, आँफै लाई पत्यार नलाग्ने गरी। Fourth Sem मा, Barun Sir ले Mircroprocessor पढाउनुभाको थियो। I was satisfied with his teaching methods, अब difference त थाहा भैहाल्छ नि, कसैले जानेर पढाएको हो कि, करले पढाएको। Sir लाई आउँथ्यो, so he was a good teacher. Questions हरु सोध्दा, we always got the answer (right). Another such teacher is Mr. Amit Kumar K.C. Microprocessor System and Interfacing पढाउनु भएको Fifth Semester मा। Best teacher of all time, the same case.. he knew a lot of things as well. थाहा नभएको त कुरै छैन, जुन field को जे पनि थाहा भाको मान्छे.. hehee. अब exam को बेला त्यस्तै पर्‍यो अनि MSI मा F आउने condition सिर्जना भयो, result त आको छैन, but i'm pretty sure, i'll hit the bullseye "F". Sorry Amit sir, back दिएर राम्रो grades ल्याएर pass गरौँला। (आचै!! आज त sunday, 9 बजे देखि lab हो क्यारे, ढिला भएछ, लेख्दै गरौँला नि...)
